Quake Mod of the Week - Quake Rally

There’s plenty of Quake mods floating around on the interwebs. I thought it would be useful to highlight some of the best ones and feature them here.

This week’s mod...

Quake Rally has been long forgotten by many and never heard of by most. It's been around since the 90s and hasn't been updated since then. This total conversion mod will basically turn Quake into something reminiscent of Twisted Metal.

You can race, deathmatch, or death race (racing with weapons). It comes complete with custom sounds, multiple vehicle models, and also a few maps/tracks that were made specifically for the mod.

This is a NetQuake compatible mod and will support racing with your friends. The maps offer a mix of race tracks and deathmatch arenas to battle in.

There’s even a fair amount of physics glitches to add to the fun!

Download and Install

Step 1. Install the mod http://www.sumaleth.com/files/qr12.zip

Step 2. Install the mod update http://www.sumaleth.com/files/qrlo1.zip

Step 3. Follow the instructions in each of the zips to ensure you install the mod correctly (requires the registered version of Quake).

**Tested and works best with either Mark_V or FTEQW modern source ports.

Quake Rally was one of the most ambitious mods of it's time and still holds that title. During it's development, the Quake Rally mod took on other names like Gold Cup and Quake Championship Racing. Also, check out Quake Rally: Leftovers that was released by the original mod creator. Many hands were involved with the mod development and like most of the addicting Quake mods, it's development had ceased over the years.
